The only fitting comment on oil rig crash in Mexican Gulf would be “time is running out”. The drilling platform that belongs to British oil giant BP exploded last week and so far it has been expanding thousands of barrels of oil per day. Environmentalits, engineers even politicians fears of the biggest environmental catastrophe in the U.S. history. The rig exploded about 45 miles (70 kilometers) from Louisiana coast, but despite machinery and hundreds of rescue workers, the oil is still out of human control. The slur is approaching the coast. Right now is within 21 miles (34 kilomteres) distance. And if it comes to this, hectares of wetlands will be contaminated! . That mean huge disaster not only to local biodiversity, but also contaminating of drinking water supplies wetlands covers. The oil will also destroy fishing industry – traditional income an way of life and chemicals may enter food chain. It may penetrate vegetation and animals that via food chain reach people.Engineers decided to burn part of the slur. According officials major part of contamination came consists of thin, but expanding oil layer, covering the surface of the water. Although BP called on submarine robots, trying to lock the well, there was neither progress nor progress eliminating the disaster. The machines are working almost 1,500 meters (5,000 feet) underwater. But human efforts seems to be on the looser part in this fight. The slur is now about 600 mile (965 kilometer) wide.
