They say money can’t buy you health, but definitely can make you feel better! Or maybe the merit that you participated in something generous like saving lives on Ground Zero should be bigger than any sum you can get! About ten thousand people who helped in the dust cleaning after the terroristic attacks are probably going to split up to $657.5 million, as an indemnity for their participation and the health problems they have got since 2001. Workers and rescuers on ground zero are trying to come to the justice, but till yesterday, they didn’t have any clear answer to their demands. They have a lot of health consequences accordingly to the dust that they breathed! in the ruins of the World Trade Center. A judge is going to give the last word today. "We are gratified that these heroic men and women who performed their duties without consideration of the health implications will finally receive just compensation for their pain and suffering, lost wages, medical and other expenses, as the U.S. Congress intended when it appropriated this money" - said Marc Bern, a senior partner with the law firm Worby, Groner, Edelman & Napoli, Bern LLP, which negotiated the deal. New Your Mayor Michael Bloomberg as well expressed his opinion that this settlement is fair enough. If the agreement happens, a lot of cases that were supposed to start this May, are going to be cancelled. Still those workers who want to be part of this settlement, will have to prove that they have been on the 16-acre in lower Manhattan and that they really have health problems related to the debris. It is fact that lots of fire workers and rescuers didn’t have adequa! te saving equipment. Problems like asthma, other types of ail! ments, l ung problems, even cancer are very common situations for most of the 10.000 rescuers. The biggest sum than one man could get, would be more than $1 million, if the injuries are very big.
