Five killed in Connecticut power plant blast

Sunday explosion at a power plant in Connectiut has killed five people and caused injuries to a dozen others. Officails are not sure about how many people were present in the powere plant at the time of the explosion. The mayor of Middletown in Connecticut, where the gas explosion took place, told at a news conference that the power plant was not finished and they are it was not clear who had been present during the explosion. Ambulances and more than 100 firefighters arrived to the plant right after the blast. Helicopters lifted out some of the injured people. According to deputy fire marshal of Middletown, Al Santostefano, the building were substantially damaged and t! here is need to search extensive areas for other potential casualties. Officials ruled out terrorism immediately. The mayor said the accident happened during a testing procedure in the unfinished power plant. Fire official of the town said that initially they had thought about 50 employees were inside the plant. It is unknown how many people are missing. Giuliano told reporters that there were about 100 people working in the plant that day, but most of them had been evacuated from the building when the test was ran. Police used dogs to hunt for any potential victims among the rubble of an explosion which felt 30 miles away. The mayor Giuliano said the blast was caused by leak during a test. The blast was so strong that some people thought it was an earthquake. Witnesses described the explosion as a huge ball of fire.
