No chance for buried miners in West Virginia by Milota Sidorova

Near zero chance to survive, this is the hope for the families of 25 workers who have been cluttered up in Upper Big Branch coal mine. Insiders have been covered for two days deep underground and officials said there was low chance they might do it into safe cages with the food and air supplies.The explosion took place so deep in threatened zone with gas streams that rescuers were afraid it could happen again. This time it did – gases have cut survivors from rescuers, giving them no chance. Every second counts in these situations and this hope is almost gone. The level of carbon dioxide was two hundred above safe level along with methane. American officials haven't specified the time rescuers would enter the mine again. The search for the last four has been stopped and now, the families are waiting for the bodies.So far, rescuers are drilling the ventilation holes.Miners have been buried almost 11,000 feet underground within 1.5 miles distance to entrance. Two miners h! ave been removed to hospitals, one has been wounded only slightly and his comrade is in intensive care. But they had more luck than other of their 18 co-workers who were pulled from the mine dead. Now four more are missing.But during the first day of search, underground showed no sign of life.The mine belongs to Massey Energy Co. that has been repeatedly the target of safety complaints. This is very poor region of America and workers are less paid and forced to work in low safety conditions – the very same day of explosions there was a complaint from workers about ventilation system. The company is defending till the last drop, this mine is one of their most profiting places. The company CEO Don Blankenship is doing hard job now disputing worker's accusations. But how long does it take to understand the money flow doesn't care for any blood?Not even if Mr. Blankenship would have gone deep underground himself.
