Boomerang children
by kristina leskova
If you have children this article is dedicated to you. The recession influences the whole population and also young people could feel the impacts. Some parents who have grown children said that due to recession their children came back as boomerang. Almost one in seven parents claimed that their child moved back home because he was not able to live alone. The biggest problem was money. Young people try to work because they need to cover their expenses. But without work it is not possible to pay for the living costs. And they know that their parents could help them. That is the reason why still more and more young people decide to move back into their parents’ houses. ! Here they do not have to pay for the house, food or other necessary things. All these they can get from their parents. Some of the parents will be happy to have their children at home but it has also some disadvantages. This trend of moving back to parents could cause delay of marriage and also delay of planning baby. Young people are without money and they do not want to start a new life with their partners. The statistics say that the share of young adults in the age between 18 – 29 who lived alone declined from 7,9 percent in 2007 to 7,3 percent this year. Among people who are aged between 16 – 24 only half of them are currently employed. About 20 million people in the age from 18 to 34 live in their parents´ homes and that makes almost 30 percent of that age group. When we compare it with year 2005 we can see the increase of 3 percent. About 12 percent of young people in the age from 18 to 34 said that they were forced to move in with a roommate becaus! e they could not pay the house fee alone.
