Just when the world public thought that they are going to fix the old wounds and tie the broken ties again, USA and Russia proved the opposite. Only few days after Barrack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev met in the American soil in non-formal meetings and discussed that it would be better if they start to get along and cooperate more on political, economical, logistical domain, the arrests of the 11 Russian spies by the US FBI, proved that that was only a camouflage! They were working behind backs. Russia’s officials are angry with the arrestments, but still they don’t think that that should influence badly on the ties between the two countries. In return, Russian pr! esident Vladimir Putin, who is a former KGB’s officer, announced that his people are activating so called damage control operation. And nonetheless, Obama was well informed about the whole espionage action that happened in four different countries, and off course that it didn’t happen that he mentioned while they were biting burgers. Though US officials claimed that they were over the Cold War espionage structures, still this action showed that the both sides are not with clean thought when it comes to relevant state questions, like security, economy, army. "We're moving towards a more trusting relationship. We're beyond the Cold War; our relations absolutely demonstrate that. But I don't think anyone was hugely shocked to know that some vestiges of old attempts to use intelligence are still there. We're apparently not there yet” - said Phil Gordon, assistant secretary of state for European Affairs. On purpose or not, former US president Bill Clinton met ! Putin yesterday! And if you ask me I think that by the next mo! rning, F BI is going to release all the 11 defendants, because there is a lot of politics turning around the whole action.

Tropical storm Alex halts salvage in Mexican Gulf by Milota Sidorova

The ancient literature is well known for something that could be described as “Deus ex machina”, the God's will. For heroes of the story it actually meant something really unusual happening, always with the divine signature. Wheather it was good or bad, it was always unpredictible. Deus ex machina could be also the name of a tropical storm Alex slowly moving along Mexican Gulf area. Last days it mixed the waters near Louisiana, the place of leaking oil. That actually stopped all rescue and recovery works in the area and workers turned into desperate observers. The storm created almost 6 meters high wawes turning the beaches into the water and sand splashing hell! . Once white beaches have been covered with oil strips and tar balls. Workers were forced to fall back and leave waters and beaches. According press sources some of them used the time for repairing machines, but most of them helplessly observed the storm smashing their work upside down. Neither they could reach water trying to isolate oil spill, nor they could strenghten barriers protecting wetlands against the spill. The whole situation remained of a huge mixer put into a dish full of water and the waste. Some scientists suggested strong winds and water circles could help breaking the spill into smaller parts. So it would speed up the process huge ships were trying to do for weeks. Smaller oil spills would be easier to reach and isolate. But the storm also caused at least first major test of barrier system and organization of the work. No one can be sure about the consequences. The only thing remains certain and that is the oil leaking out of the well even after more than ! 60 days.According to last news Alex transformed into a hurrica! ne and l eft the area of Louisiana coast, heading towards Texas and Mexico.

As it seems United States have not troubles only with China (in Google case) but also with Russia. Shortly after the pictures of Russian President Medvedev and the US President Barack Obama eating hamburgers together fly around the world, new information came up. The news that Russia allegedly has its spies in the USA whose should inform Kremlin about US activities (especially nuclear weapons and foreign policy) appeared so suddenly, that I am more than persuaded that someone wanted to thwart Obama’s attempt of “reset” mutual Russian-American ties. The White House said Obama knew the FBI was closing in on the 11 alleged spies when he met Russian President,! but didn’t want to mention it. Russian condemnation of arrests and launch of damage control operation are persuasive enough for me to believe, that Russia and USA were serious about improving US-Russia ties. As Phil Gordon, assistant secretary of state for European Affairs said about this spy scandal: “We are moving towards a more trusting relationship. We are beyond the Cold War, our relations absolutely demonstrate that.” What is more it seems that “anyone was hugely shocked to know that some vestiges of old attempts to use intelligence are still there.” Putin maintained the same position when he said: “I expect that the positive tendency in relations over the last years is not harmed. We very much hope that people who value good relations understand this.” If these newly interweaved ties resist this and many other tests only investigation and time will show.

Recently, while looking at BP advertisment I have realized how terribly true the statement was. The title on the cover says: “We bring oil to American shores”. Whether it was the worst copywright I have ever seen, I wasn't sure, but the flashbacks from media reports appeared in my mind again. We've heard the company haven't succeeded and wasn't able to stop the oil flow that is still polluting hundreds if not thousands of miles of sea and the coastline. That means gradual death for animals and plants even the water in that region. Great catastrophe with consequences that no one, not one in White House or anywhere else could imagine. I've thought of people livin! g in this area, somewhere I have passed through the article telling the mental health of residents was on decline. People suffered from nerviosity, anxiety, depressions, alcoholism and agressivity. The reasons were obvious. I would say, Imagine that everything you'd seen day by day, year after year, everything surrounding you has been fading and dying. Imagine you see thousands of fish lying on the beach, birds covered by a heavy layer of oil waiting for their last breats, think of your previous work, think of fishmen who moved the economy of the region. All of this has been fading and no money can bring it back as it was. This is the current situation of million people living here. Some compare this catastrophe to Hurricane Katrina, probably the deadliest weather collision in U.S. history. But it seems that history should be rewritten – Katrina hit in relatively short time and disappeared, but the oil is constantly leaking and there is no hope of its ending the next ! month. So far, this all has been lasting more than 60 days.Thi! s is but a small glimpse of wasteland residents have to face. Although they are just small part of victims, their homes and hopes were taken from them and the reality is hitting hard. But who is there to blame? Who is there to repair, renew, recreate?Projections are black.

US commander in Afghanistan resigns by Magdalena Rosova

After the top US commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Stanley McChrystal criticized President Barack Obama and his cabinet in an interview, US President accepted his resignation on Wednesday. General McChrystal was immediately replaced by General David Petraeus. Obama said he was opened for debate among his team, but he would definitely not tolerate any division inside. McChrystal criticized Obama and national security team of United States in a magazine article, which was a big surprise for everyone. Petraeus, who is seen as a savior of a US mission in Iraq, will now give up his post of a commander of all US forces in the Middle East and will command the NATO-led campaign in Afg! hanistan. Immediately after the interview was released, McChrystal was ordered to leave Afghanistan and meet Obama to explain his criticism in the interview. But before he met Obama he was ordered to see Gates at the Pentagon. The interview in Rolling Stone questions Obama's strategy and points out that number of deaths in the troop is rising and the support of public is continuously falling. The criticism came right in the point when the situation is critical, the mission is unsuccessful in offensive and Taliban is still not driven out of their stronghold in Kandahar. White House has only limited time, Obama's cabinet knows they will have to withdraw some of the troops by July 2011. Therefore many wanted Obama to keep McChrystal and not endanger the mission. McChrystal has some supporters among European nations participating in the NATO-led campaign. They say it was not time to change a commander.

First it was French footballer Nicolas Anelka and now it is the top US general in Afghanistan, Stanley McChrystal who was not on the watch for his words. This 55-year-old Commander and International Security Assistance Force made some critical remarks about the Obama administration and now he has to answer few questions. McChrystal and his aides were quoted in a Rolling Stone magazine article mocking President Barack Obama and his top advisers. Some voices from Washington are whispering McChrystal may lose his job, but Obama’s spokesman Robert Gibs told reporters, that all options were on the table. Two officials said they expected McChrystal to offer his resignation ! and allow Obama to decide whether to accept it or not. If that happens, we can only guess. Even though McChrystal has already apologized for the article, calling one top Obama official a “clown” and another a “wounded animal” is something what needs more than just a simple apology. But there is one more thing that McChrystal probably did not realize and that is the risk which Obama got into. If he let McChrystal stay he will risk weakening his position as President and it will make him look soft on insubordination. But when Obama fires him (that means fires his top general on the ground) he will have to face criticism that he undermines the war effort. As said a senior Obama administration official: “It is a real dilemma.” Whether McChrystal will be fired or just replaced, defence officials say they have confidence a suitable replacement could be found.

Faisai Shahzad found guilty for Times Square bomb attempt by Milota Sidorova

U.S. court pleaded guilty Pakistani-born U.S. citizen Faisai Shahzad after his caught on May 3 on John F.Kennedy Airport. 30 year-old Shahzad was charged for bomb attempt after he parked a car full of explosives on Times Square, two days ago. The car didn't explode since the police was soon warned by accidental observer – a shop vendor. That case left more questions after another two young (20 and 24-years old) U.S. citizens were charged for international terrorism and were just like Shahzad caught on Airport leaving for Arabia. The trial lasted several weeks and before the court sentenced him guilty, he didn't deny any of ten provided accusations. On the contrary, Sh! ahzad didn't feel guilty for the attempt, although he'd been questioned why he wanted to kill innocent Americans. With a perfect English Shahzad expressed his anger for American troops destroying and killing children of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq and other countries. Right now he faces the life in prison, but said he wasn't afraid of it. His message was quite combative and clear pointing to Muslim response against Americans, before they will be able to enslavish the world. He also provided detailed information about the attack – the site, the amount of explosives, even his previous training for bomb-making. U.S. airlines were forced to secure their procedures and the number of no-flight lists – the current number of available seats. Due this service, Shahzad was able to board the plane, leaving for Dubai. Shahzad's background is quite sophisticated, he is the son of respected Pakistani air officer. US President Brack Obama is expected to deal with the case of oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico as he needs to restore public confidence in his ability to lead the country. On Tuesday night Obama will make a high-stakes address to the nation, his speech should support his ambitious plans to cut U.S. dependence on fossil fuels. Obama will have more difficult task thanks to the fact that BP did not succeed in its last attempts to stop the flow of oil into the see. Because of a small fire that burned up on a ship which was collecting the crude, BP was forced to stop its operations. A live video feed that is placed on the seabed showed clouds of oil flowing into the ocean. BP sai! d it did not know when it would resume its activities. BP's rig blew out on April 20 and then immediately sank into the sea. The oil which spilled into the see caused the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history. In Washington U.S. Congress is hearing the company. Executives of the oil company told the Congress that BP did not keep industry standards in building its deep-see well. On Tuesday Obama will give his first nationally televised address from the Oval Office, he will try to show people that he is able to deal with the oil spill crisis. However, polls showed that most Americans thinks Obama has been too detached from the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico. Americký prezident Barack Obama musí okamžite jednať s prírodnou katastrofou v Mexickom zálive ak chce opäť získať dôveru ľudí v jeho schopnosť viesť krajinu. Obama sa preto rozhodol osloviť amerických občanov vo svojom príhovore priamo z oválnej miestnosti. V utorok večer predstúpi Obama pred kamery, aby presvedčil národ, že je schopný jednať s krízou v Mexickom zálive. Jeho reč má okrem iného aj získať podporu pre Obamov ambiciózny plán, podľa ktorého sa Amerika má viac oslobodi&#! 357; od závislosti na fosílnom palive. Obamovi však sťažuje situáciu neúspech ropnej spoločnosti BP, ktorá napriek viacerým pokusom a všemožnej snahe ešte doteraz nebola schopná zastaviť ropu, ktorá stále vyteká z potopeného žriedla do mora. Na palube lode, ktorá pumpovala ropu zo žriedla, vzplanul malý požiar, ktorý prinútil ropnú spoločnosť zastaviť svoju činnosť. Zábery zachytené kamerou, ktorá je umiestnená na dne mora ukazujú mračná ropy ako vyteká do mora. Spoločnosť BP zatiaľ nevie, kedy bude môcť obnoviť svoje aktivity. Ropné žriedlo vybuchlo 20 apríla a okamžite sa potopilo do mora. Ropa, ktorá od vtedy vytiekla do mora spôsobila zatiaľ najväčšiu prírodnú katastrofu v dejinác! h Ameriky. Vo Washingtone práve prebieha vypočú! vanie sp oločnosti BP, ktoré má zistiť príčinu výbuchu žriedla. Výkonní predstavitelia firmy tvrdia, že BP nedodržovala požadované štandardy pre vybudovanie žriedla. V utorok Obama predstúpi pred národ a zo svojej oválnej miestnosti bude chcieť presvedčiť ľudí o svojej schopnosti vyriešiť vzniknutú krízu. Avšak prieskumy ukazujú, že väčšina Američanov považuje Obamov vklad do riešenie problému v Mexickom zálive za nedostatočný. Obamova reč je naplánovaná na ôsmu hodinu večer, prezident sa pokúsi presvedčiť ľudí o opaku.

Les politiciens mentent et ils le font beaucoup. Ceci n'étonne plus personne et fait partie de la politique comme nous la percevons de nos jours. La distinction entre les politiciens n'est plus faite à la base de ce qui raconte des mensonges et qui dit la vérité, mais plutôt sur la quantité de mensonges qu'ils prononcent. Obama est le leader dans cette catégorie juste comme il l'est dans les autres catégories et si le prix Nobel avait été attribué aux menteurs véritables, il l'aurait gagné sans aucun doute. Sans compter le fait que toutes promesses fait! es pendant la campagne présidentielle ont été mises de côté et oubliées, il y a même quelques déclarations qu'il a actuellement faites et qui contiennent un tas de contradictions qui étonnent la plupart des gens. Récemment, Obama était l'un des défenseurs principaux de l'idée que le forage de pétrole dans le Golfe du Mexique devrait être intensifié. Cependant, le désastre de BP dans le Golfe du Mexique l'a incité à reconsidérer son point de vue et à se joindre aux autres politiciens qui se retirent du projet. Il y a plus d'un mois qu'un puits de pétrole s'est cassée et BP n'a pas réussi d'arrêter la fuite ou à récupérer le pétrole qui s'est répandu dans l'eau et a causé beaucoup de dommages à l'environnement. Oil Spill & Clean Energy Future? by Barbora Misakova

What more to say about oil spill that threats Gulf of Mexico? When the whole case started, culprit was known and information about how quickly will it be stopped were satisfying us. But now when we see pictures from that area, there is nothing more than anger and one question that is still worrying us: how could this happen? US President Barack Obama said what people living in affected area already know – they have to face a long battle against an “epidemic” of oil pollution. Obama repeated himself when he vowed to do whatever was necessary to help the people of the southern US coast recover from the disaster and unveiled a “battle plan” to cle! an up a massive oil slick. His words saying: “We will fight this spill with everything we’ve got for as long it takes” only prove Obama is a good speaker. But is he also such a good activist? Constant pointing at responsibility of British Petroleum will help neither Americans nor their President. He says the oil disaster showed the need for a new generation energy policy which should be based on renewable sources of power. But why this question always comes on program when similar catastrophe like this one in Gulf of Mexico happens? As Obama said: “Today, as we look to the Gulf, we see an entire way of life being threatened by a menacing cloud of black crude.” but what will happen when this “cloud of black crude” will be cleaned and won’t be seen anymore? Will be the necessity of “clean energy future” still actual?

Les politiciens mentent et ils le font beaucoup. Ceci n'étonne plus personne et fait partie de la politique comme nous la percevons de nos jours. La distinction entre les politiciens n'est plus faite à la base de ce qui raconte des mensonges et qui dit la vérité, mais plutôt sur la quantité de mensonges qu'ils prononcent. Obama est le leader dans cette catégorie juste comme il l'est dans les autres catégories et si le prix Nobel avait été attribué aux menteurs véritables, il l'aurait gagné sans aucun doute. Sans compter le fait que toutes promesses fait! es pendant la campagne présidentielle ont été mises de côté et oubliées, il y a même quelques déclarations qu'il a actuellement faites et qui contiennent un tas de contradictions qui étonnent la plupart des gens. Récemment, Obama était l'un des défenseurs principaux de l'idée que le forage de pétrole dans le Golfe du Mexique devrait être intensifié. Cependant, le désastre de BP dans le Golfe du Mexique l'a incité à reconsidérer son point de vue et à se joindre aux autres politiciens qui se retirent du projet. Il y a plus d'un mois qu'un puits de pétrole s'est cassée et BP n'a pas réussi d'arrêter la fuite ou à récupérer le pétrole qui s'est répandu dans l'eau et a causé beaucoup de dommages à l'environnement. BP will have to create an escrow account to pay the victims of oil spill by Zuzana Zelenakova

US President Barrack Obama plans to push energy company British Petroleum, responsible for the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, into creating an escrow account from which it would pay victims of the environmental catastrophe. Obama´s intentions to deliver billions of dollars to people affected by the massive leak were announced Sunday by White House spokesman Robert Gibbs and President´s senior adviser David Axelrod. On Friday, reports came from London that BP is about to create an escrow account willingly, however, these turned out to be not as certain as previously assumed and President Obama decided to take the action in the matter. He will meet BP exe! cutives Wednesday in order to discuss further details, the amount of money that will be put in the account in particular. “We want to make sure that money is independently administered so there won’t be slow walk on these claims,” said David Axelrod referring to the involvement of a third party. “It’s not a matter of trust. We have to verify what they’re doing. I don’t consider them a partner. They’re not social friends. I’m not looking to make judgments about their soul.” Axelrod used rather harsh language, apparently, in order to show the public that the government holds BP responsible and will make the energy company take that responsibility through some resolute moves. So far, the efforts to contain the oil spill and to prevent it from doing harm to people and wildlife had reached $1.6 billion. Monday, President Obama started his fourth visit to the Gulf areas, during which he plans on visiting Mississippi, Flo! rida and Alabama. The first three trips were to the state that! was aff ected worst by the spill, Louisiana. Upon his return to Washington on Tuesday, he will give his first Oval Office speech as president, in which he will talk about the catastrophe.

Politicians lie and they lie a lot. This doesn’t surprise anyone anymore and is part of the politics as we perceive it nowadays. The distinction between the politicians is no longer made based on who lies and who tells the truth, but rather on how much they lie. Obama is a leader at this category just as it is in other categories and if Nobel Prize had been given for genuine liars, he would have won it without a doubt. Besides the fact that all the promises made during the presidential campaign were put aside and forgotten, there are even some statements that he currently makes and that contain a bunch of contra! dictions which astonish most people. Most recently, Obama was one of the main supporters of the idea that oil drilling in Gulf of Mexico should be expanded. However, the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico made him reconsider his position and join the other politicians who withdraw from the project. More than a moth ago an oil well broke and BP did not manage to stop the spill or to recover the oil that spread in the water and caused a lot of damage to the environment. Obama did not hesitate in criticizing the energy giant, but he did not take any actions against BP, nor did he come up with tougher rules for the oil drill. Moreover, when he met with the families of the 11 workers killed by the explosion that took place in the incident known as Deepwater Horizon, Obama stated clearly that oil drilling is part of the plan for supplying energy to the nation. Thus it will continue for a long time to pollute the waters and destroy the environment whil! e the oil companies will continue with their reckless activiti! es think ing that they are above everything.

The US national intelligence has a new director. President Barack Obama is the one that has the right to choose the first man of one of the top important institutions in the country. He doesn’t give the last word, he passes its proposition to the Senate that might confirm or reject the presidents’ wish. Obama has decided to name James Clapper, retired general. Analysts are a little bit stunned about the choice, knowing that Obama has picked a defense veteran and not some expert from big number of intelligence agencies in the US. In his defending statements, Obama says that the agency is going to have a professional that has earned the respect. "With four decades! of service to America, Jim is one of our nation's most experienced and most respected intelligence professionals. He possesses a quality that I value in all my advisers: a willingness to tell leaders what we need to know even if it's not what we want to hear" – Obama said. Clapper will come on the place of Dennis Blair who backed off on his own, after the White House announced to aerate its administration a little bit. It is not like that man should have stayed at the position. In short time, in the US few important security failures happened and it was logical that the first man of the national intelligence should pay the price. James Clapper currently is working as a Defense Department undersecretary and is Pentagon’s top intelligence official in the last three years. He has been director of two intelligence agencies, like the Air Force and the National Geospatial intelligence. It’s the Senate's turn now. US officials have caught two men that participated in a big conspiracy counter American citizens outside the United States of America. The 20-year old Mohamed Alessa and four years older Carlos Alonte were arrested in the attempt to leave the US country at the John F. Kennedy airport. The plan was for them to get to Somalia and from there, to kill, kidnap and maim US citizens. The case is leaden in a New Jersey court. It is not like these threatening criminals were caught quickly, not at all. The action lasted for three and a half years, and the main source was the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The ! both of them grew up in the United States where they got the education. No one knows whether these threats were part of bigger security invasion in the US big cities. A month ago, a Pakistani-born American had a bad attempt for a car bombing in Times Square. The other failed bombing was the Christmas Day bombing of an airliner over Detroit when by a Nigerian man. The fact that all of the criminals that are included in such conspiratorial acts are all connected to the mother terroristic group Al-Qaeda, tells a lot. The last two young guys that hate US, belonged to the organization Al-Shabaab, that has close ties to the disreputable Al-Qaeda. As FBI agents say, the members of that group are very well organized and armed with martial crafts and simulated use of weapons. "In body bags - in caskets. Sliced up in a thousand pieces, cozy in the grave, in hell," – stated Alessa, that’s how he wanted to see dead Americans. Terrifying!

BP chief executive doesn't want to resign by Zivka Deleva

We are going to stop the leak. We're going to clean up the oil, we're going to remediate any environmental damage and we are going to return the Gulf coast to the position it was in prior to this event – British Petroleum chief executive Tony Hayward said, adding "that's an absolute commitment, we will be there long after the media has gone, making good on our promises." By these words everyone would understand that this man doesn’t find himself guilty and that he doesn’t have to resign from the leading position, though his company is in charge of the worst environmental disaster the United States have ever known. Hayward is praising a containment system ! which was put one day ago and has saved about 10,000 barrels of oil. He announces another system of this kind, which is about to be placed the next weekend. Hayward explains that the company he is leading has done by far anything that’s in their possibility to safe as much oil and of course, save the environment which already is endangered. The Mexico Gulf is known as a touristic place, but after this disaster, who’s to say that a tourist would step on this soil. On the other hand, British Petroleum is not a company from yesterday, and in the twenty years of exploring into the deep water, hasn’t been not even close to this kind of accident. One big lesson mankind should learn from this kinds of disasters – how to be prepared in the future to avoid such catastrophes and to improve the security standards in this very important industry. Around $84 million through this month is BP about to spend, to recompense to its employees. Making Progress In The Gulf Oil Spill by Magdalena Rosova

BP has placed a containment cap on an raptured oil rig which had sank into the ocean in the Gulf of Mexico. BP expects the cap to capture huge amount of oil. However, the coast in the Gulf will suffer from the spill for many more months. According to BP, the cap has captured 10,500 barrels of oil in 24 hours. Another containment system will help BP to get the rest of oil spilled in the ocean under the control. The rig exploded April 20, BP's Chief Executive Tony Hayward said he would not give up his efforts to deal with the environmental disaster. Thad Allen, the US admiral leading the government relief effort, estimated the containment could collect about 15,000 barrels of! oil a day. But Allen warns not to be very happy about the progress. For CBS he said that there is an urgent need to stop the wellbore, then pump mud down, which would decrease the pressure of oil coming up from the reservoir. This id definitely an uneasy task. People living in the coastal area are angry and mad. The environmental catastrophe is just the last one of the series of disasters. First there were the hurricanes that had destroyed the houses of people, then the situation in markets had taken their job. Now people are angry and disappointed that the oil leak will kill their tourism, wildlife and fisheries. BP is under the pressure to stop the leak from the well and take responsibility for the cleanup and damage that the oil has caused. It is clear to everyone that the price will be extremely high.

Seven dead in Ohio tornado by Magdalena Rosova

A tornado in Ohio destroyed a high school just one day before graduation and killed seven people. Many other houses were damaged. The community has already rescheduled the graduation ceremony. The tornado that hit Ohio was one part of a line of storms that raged in the Midwest on Saturday and Sunday. Storms destroyed an emergency services building in Ohio. The storm also ripped off a roof of movie-theater Illinois. The storm hit the worst Toledo, where vehicles and houses were destroyed, the area was full of splintered wood and family possessions. It reminded more a war zone. 50 houses were destroyed and another 50 houses were damaged. Six commercial buildings were damaged as well. An area with farms and fields and light industry was affected the most, the storm overpassed more populated suburbs of Toledo. Few hours before the graduation ceremony of Lake High School's students was supposed to begin, the tornado ripped off the roof and back wall of the school building. Theref! ore the ceremony will take place at a Toledo community college this Tuesday. The tornado damaged also buildings of a township police and emergency medical services. Six police vehicles were destroyed. The nuclear plant on the shore of Lake Erie was damaged as well. Its owner DTE Energy is investing the extend of the damage and is not sure when the plant will operate again. Spokesman Guy Cerullo said the reactor was not damaged, only some equipment. The storm cut off electricity, 14,000 people were without powere. It is not clear weather it was caused by shutdown of the nuclear plant or the damage of power lines.

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is not going to end up soon. The US government officials announce that it is possible that the crisis is going to continue this autumn. It is weird how come one of the most powerful countries in the world, doesn’t have the power to handle this environmental disaster. No one promises miracles, in the terms of offering big encouragements that everything is going to be all right very soon, and the spill is going to be stopped. According to the statements in the US news these days, there is no bright future for this part of the country, due to the aftermath that is going to happen and the bad consequences that the oil spill will provoke! . Even after the fall, oil is going to be present in the area. "This will be well into the fall. This is a siege across the entire Gulf. This spill is holding everybody hostage, not only economically but physically. And it has to be attacked on all fronts," said Coast Guard Adm.Thad Allen. The amount of 500,000 to 1 million gallons a day is not an amount that should be underestimated. The balance-sheet till now seems terrifying – roughly 50 million gallons of oil have leaked into the Gulf. The once that are the most concerned definitely are the residents that leave along the Gulf – has anyone imagined how do they live and has the federal government offered some help yet? Tornádo v americkom štáte Ohio zničilo budovu strednej školy iba deň pred plánovanou slávnosťou absolventov a zavinilo smrť siedmych ľudí. Mesto sa snaží pozviechať a už dokonca aj naplánovalo ceremóniu na iný deň. Tornádo, ktoré postihlo Ohio, bolo súčasťou búrok, ktoré vyčíňali v sobotu a nedeľu v oblasti Stredozápadu, pri povodí rieky Mississippi. Búrky zničili aj budovu pohotovostnej služby v Ohiu. Búrka odtrhla i strechu budovy divadla v Illinois. Búrka zasiahla najťažšie Toledo, kde zničila autá a domy. Búrka za sebou zanechala hotovú spúšť, celá oblasť bola plná črepín a úlomkov dreva, či porozhadzovaných osobných vecí. Mesto pripomínalo viacerým vojnovú oblasť.! Búrka zničila 50 domov a ďalších 50 domov bolo ťažko poškodených. Búrka spôsobila škody aj na šiestich komerčných budovách. Oblasť s farmami, s poliami a s ľahkým priemyslom bola postihnutá najťažšie. Búrka obišla viac obývané okrajové oblasti Toleda. Niekoľko hodín pred plánovanou ceremóniou na strednej škole Lake High School, tornádo odtrhlo strechu a zadnú stenu budovy školy. Nedeľná ceremónia bola zrušená, ale presunula sa na utorok do budovy miestnej vyššej strednej školy. Tornádo spôsobilo škody i na ďalších budovách, na budove mestskej polície a budovách pohotovostnej služby. Sedem policajných áut bolo zničených. Tornádo poškodilo i jadrovú elektráreň na b! rehu jazera Erie. DTE Energy, vlastník elektrárne, p! reš etruje rozsah spôsobených škôd. Zatiaľ nie je jasné, kedy elektráreň začne opäť fungovať. Hovorca DTE Energy Guy Cerullo potvrdil, že nedošlo k poškodeniu reaktora, postihnutá je iba časť zariadenia. Búrka odrezala 14 tisíc ľudí od elektriny. Nie je isté, či výpadok elektriny spôsobilo poškodenie jadrovej elektrárne alebo poškodenie elektrického vedenia.

L'huile s'échappant approche le Florida by Milota Sidorova

Comme la troisième tentative de BP de cimenter la canalisation cassée dans le golfe du Mexique a échoué, il était tout à fait claire que la crise environnementale deviendrait également politique. Le blâme tombe sur la tête du Président Obama qui a promis d'apporter tous les responsables à la justice. Le gouvernement des États-Unis a déjà commencé la recherche civile et criminelle contre British Petroleum, mais le processus ne va pas redonner la vie au littoral jadis exubérant de la Louisiane. Cependant, l'huile disjointe s'approche de la Floride qui deviendra le quatrième état frapp! 33; par la catastrophe ayant lieu il y a six semaines. La fuite est actuellement environ à 11 kilomètres de distance du littoral qui a été évacué. Sûrement vous pouvez imaginer ce que cela signifie - la fermeture des fermes de pêche huitrière, le trafic maritime défaillant, la fermeture des plages et l'échec de leur tourisme aussi bien. La scie qui a été censée de couper la canalisation a resté collée et cintrée presque 1.5 kilomètre de sous-l'eau. La compagnie ne sait pas quand et comment elle va réussir. La scie a coupé la canalisation, augmentant la quantité d'huile disjointe, toutefois elle n'a pas couronné la canalisation. Les plus mauvaises projections suggèrent que le puits devrait être clos en août. Mais ça ferrait plus de deux mois et personne ne peut s'attendre à des conséquences. BP successfully cut off fractured pipe by Magdalena Rosova

BP has finally cut off a fractured oil pipe. In last attempt a robotic diamond-blade saw got stuck. Oil spilled into Gulf of Mexico six weeks ago and now is heading towards the Florida's beaches. BP used giant shears to slice off the pipe. President Barack Obama has announced his already third trip to the affected region. After the saw got stuck in the pipe, BP had to come up with something more rougher to cut the pipe off. Admiral Thad Allen told that shears they had used did not have as clean cut as a diamond-blade saw, but at least they had a cut now. Allen is overseeing the response of the US government to the oil spill, finds the cut as a “significant step forwar! d.” Next step will be to find the best way how to place a containment cap over the cut and stop spew of oil into the ocean. The leak in Gulf of Mexico is the worst in US history and BP has not been successful in containing the leak yet. The BP's rig exploded April 20 and immediately sank 1,600 meters down on the sea bed. Workers trying to stop the flow of oil are using special robotic submarines. The leak is on its way to beaches of Florida, new areas of fishing were closed on Thursday. The US government estimates 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of oil pour into the Gulf every day. This number will probably grow, BP's officer Doug Suttles thinks that until the cap was in place, the oil flow would increase by 20 percent.

Sudkyňa spolu so svojim asistentom boli vo štvrtok zastrelení počas procesu priamo v bruselskej súdnej sieni. Po smrteľných výstreloch sa vrahovi podarilo dokonca utiecť, čo je obrovskou hanbou pre bezpečnostný systém v krajine. Muž sa počas procesu celý čas nachádzal v súdnej sieni, keď sa v jednom momente odrazu zdvihol, vytiahol zbraň a zastrelil sudkyňu spolu s jej asistentom. Keď sa incident odohral, na súde práve prebiehal proces riešiaci spor medzi susedmi. Vražda sa odohrala priamo v srdci hlavného mesta Bruselu, blízko ! slávnej budovy Paláca spravodlivosti. Právnik, ktorý bol prítomný na procese prenasledoval chvíľu vraha, ale tomu sa podarilo právnikovi uniknúť. Polícia už začala oficiálne prenasledovanie vraha po celej krajine. Ešte niekoľko hodín po udalosti nebolo jasné, či vrah mal nejakú spojitosť s prípadom, ktorý práve prebiehal na súde. Neskôr však viaceré zdroje identifikovali strelcu ako Albánca sklamaného rozhodnutím súdu, podľa ktorého nedostal svoje deti do opatery. Albánec bol pravdepodobne moslim, ktorý nesúhlasí s európskym právnym systémom a rozhodnutím práve v jeho prípade. Zavraždenými boli šesťdesiatročná sudkyňa Isabelle Brandonová a jej asistent Andre Bellemans. Belgický minister spravodlivosti S! tefaan De Clerck sa objavil na súde krátko po incide! nte a o Brandonovej sa vyjadril ako o výbornej sudkyni s výbornými skúsenosťami. De Clerck povedal, že je neprijateľné, že sudkyňa a jej asistent boli zavraždení priamo v súdnej budove. Brandonová bola známa ako sudkyňa bojujúca za pokoj a spravodlivosť pre ľudí. De Clerck povedal, že tento deň otriasol spravodlivosťou a spoločnosťou v krajine. Bezpečnosť v belgických súdnych budovách ako aj vo väzniciach bola už dlho predmetom sporov. Za posledné roky sa viacerým väzňom úspešne podarilo ujsť z väzníc. .

As the third attempt of BP to cement the broken pipeline in the Mexican Gulf failed, it was quite sure that the environmental crisis would also become a political one. The blame falls upon President Obama's head who promised to bring all responsibles to justice. U.S. government has already began the civil and criminal investigation against British Petroleum, but the case is not going to bring back once vivid coast of Louisiana. However, the leaking oil is nearing Florida that will become the fourth state hit by the catastrophe taking place six weeks ago. The leak is currently about 11 kilometers far from the coastline that has been evacuated. Surely you can imagine what doe! s that mean – closing fishing and oysters farms, declining ship traffic, closing beaches and hit tourism as well. Many restaurant and pub owners are closing due practically no business there. The oil has reached almost 240 kilometers of a coastline, killing rich and precious wetlands ecosystems in Louisiana. The oil is appearing in several forms – either in leak with glossy sheen or tar balls. However, the most dangerous oil form is moving undewater. The huge mass of oil hasn't reached the water surface, but created a mass slowly moving along water streams killing all that comes in the way. Try to imagine the number of fish, planctoon, corals and other sea creatures.The oil is continuing to flow, since the third bid to stop the well failed. The saw that was supposed to cut the pipeline got stuck and bowed almost 1.5 kilometer underwater. The company doesn't know when and how is it going to succeed. The saw cut the pipeline, increasing amount of leaking oil, howe! ver it failed to cap the pipeline. The worst projections sugge! st the w ell should be sealed in August. But this is more than two months and nobody can expect the consequences. Environmental, Social, Political, Economical...

Dependence on fossil fuels endangers the US says Obama by Zuzana Zelenakova

US president Barrack Obama stated Wednesday that dependence of the country on fossil fuel must end as it endangers not only environment, but also economy and national security. "An America that runs solely on fossil fuels should not be the vision we have for our children and grandchildren," said the President. He invited the Congress to pass a clean-energy bill that would put an end to such dependence. At the same time he admitted that the Senate might not be ready for such legislation yet. "The votes may not be there right now, but I intend to find them in the coming months," said Obama at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. "I will continue to make the case for a c! lean energy future wherever and whenever I can, and I will work with anyone to get this done. And we will get it done." Obama brought the topic to the table in times when a sense of anger and frustration hangs over the nation due to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that has not been contained yet. The environmental catastrophe is the biggest challenge for Barrack Obama as a President so far and in an attempt to calm the stormy waters he is painting a picture of “a clean energy future”. To eliminate the oil companies tax breaks is part of the package and it is included in his latest budget proposal. Such environmental friendly policy includes also pursuing nuclear power and take advantage of natural gas reserves. In his speech at Pittsburgh university Obama did not forget to shed his opinion on the Republicans saying that most of the time they just "sat on the sidelines and shouted from the bleachers." Apparently, Barrack Obama needs to make his stand as the e! lections are approaching.

Obama´s first meeting with oil spill commission by Zuzana Zelenakova

On Tuesday, US President Barrack Obama met the chairmen of an independent commission investigating the oil spill in Gulf of Mexico for the first time. The commission´s goal is not only to find out the exact cause of the environmental catastrophe but also to further ensure the safety of off shore oil drilling in general, which includes investigating government agencies that regulate this industry. The meeting comes three days after the British energy company BP, which is officially held responsible for the accident, announced that its latest attempt to stop the underwater gusher in the gulf had failed. The current estimate is that 12,000 to 19,000 barrels of oil pour i! nto the Gulf waters each day. On Tuesday, Obama met with the co-chairmen of the commission Bob Graham, former Florida senator and governor, and William Reilly, former head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Five members of the commission are still to be selected. "They have my full support to follow the facts wherever they may lead, without fear or favor," said Obama after the Tuesday meeting. The current administration is now dealing with the worst environmental disaster of its kind in the history of the United States, it affects not only the environment, but also the economy and way of life in the coastal areas. After more than 40 days since the explosion on the drilling platform Deepwater Horizon the public unrest and frustration in the US escalate and Barrack Obama faces one of the biggest challenges as a president so far. He announced publicly that all efforts concerning shutting the leaking well must be left to BP as US do not possess technology required for the ! task. BP will try to shut off the floe Wednesday by placing a ! cap on t he well so that the oil can be captured and directed to the surface.

Director James Cameron, known all over the world for his megalomaniac projects such as Titanic, Terminator and of course, the latest movie sensation Avatar was asked to take part in a discussion panel in Washington that was dealing with the question how to contain the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. US officials called the Tuesday meeting a “part of the federal government´s ongoing efforts to hear from stakeholders, scientists and experts from academia, government and the private sector as we continue to respond to the BP oil spill.” The latest attempt by the energy company BP to shut the flow of crude oil from the underwater gusher failed. So called R! 20;top kill” effort involved pumping heavy mud into the well. The explosion on drilling platform Deepwater Horizon from April 20 that killed eleven platform workers has caused the worst oil spill in history of the United States. James Cameron who is not only director but also an accomplished inventor was invited to the session as he has gained quite a lot of underwater experience during his career, in particular during filming 1989 science fiction The Abbys and 1997 megahit Titanic. He helped to develop deep sea exploration equipment and other oceanographic technology for the purposes of exploring some of the most famous ship wrecks. Along with Cameron there were about twenty other scientists and engineers present at what was described as a “listening session as these stakeholders shared ideas about possible efforts to mitigate the BP spill´s impact on the Gulf region.” The whole situation is under investigation of independent commission appointed by ! President Barrack Obama. The first meeting of the commission w! as held Tuesday, that is three days after BP announced its latest failed attempt to plug the fractioned well.
