We don't have Noe's ark
by Barbora Misakova
When a God, disappointed by the things He saw, decided to destroy the whole world with all its creatures living there, He didn't hesitate at all. He couldn't watch people with all of their moral turpitude and ugliness any more. He was disappointed by the things He saw and knew so much, that He decided to destroy people's world rather than leave them to live this way. But God knew every single man and woman, he knew about every family. And so He found among these people one person, the only fair man – Noe. As the God took fancy to Noe and wanted to keep him alive, He choose Noe to accomplish his plan. Noe got a command – to create an ark and fill it with all animal species living on the planet – from every kind one piece. Noe's mission wasn't as easy as it looked at the beginning. First of all he had to build the biggest ark ever – ark as big as an ark must be to carry all animal species and also Noe's family. Another problem was with people. They consider Noe a fool – he is building ark, because of some flood which will never come! But Noe didn't give it up, because he believed in the words of God. And when the flood really came – all of those fools were upraising hands and praying to God to save their lives. And Noe with his family was hidden in his ark.
You don't need to be Christian to know this story. But you neither need to be American to know about the floods and water rises in the U.S. This time is the main enemy tropical storm Fay. And even though it was not like in the Noe's story, lot of people died, were injured and had to be evacuated. The storm killed 13 people in the U.S., 23 died in Haiti and the Dominican Republic from flooding. About 50 people died in Haiti when the storm swept their bus into the river. This is not a biblical story, this is reality! The rainy season in Florida was shown on the rise of waters. While St. Johns River was 3.5 feet, four days later it was 10.2 feet, the St. Marks River water level doubled in few days – from 6.9 to 12.89 feet. In some areas, water was so high (in Orlando the streets were under four feet of water!) that people were forced to leave their homes on boats. Even though this reminds us Noe's flood and some kind of God's warning, we must realize we have no ark which can save us and our families! We are living in the century of still more and more repeating storms, hurricanes and floods and that's why we must find better and more effective tool to fight against them. And we must find it now!
