Infinite splendid Broadway
by Ludmila Martinicka
It is 13 days from the end of the strike on the Broadway. During the strike 27 of Broadway theaters put the curtain down. In three weeks you could find Strike-free zone on the website. Not all the shows were available. The whole strike took almost three weeks. Due to dispute between League of the American Theaters and Producers, Inc. and the union representing the theater, many shows were canceled and also first night shows were moved to later dates, like "August: Osage County", "The Seafarer" and "The Little Mermaid". The strike ended on November 28th and theaters were opened for visitors just the day after. Broadway stagehands approved a new contract with producer on November 8th. Bruce Cohen, a spokesman for Local 1 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees said it was an overhelming ratification. Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of the League of American Theatres and Producers, is very happy for the contract. New season promises to bring even better artistic impression for visitors and invites also you to come with words & come and see a show this season. Season of thanksgiving holiday and Christmas time is the best for the theaters. The strike have brought many losses on side of the theaters as well as on the side of "all-around-businesses". Fast food, souvenirs sellers,... Better time is coming back to Broadway! Be there too!
