BP investigates the oil spill into the Gulf of Mexico by Magdalena Rosova

Oil giant BP reported resulst of its internal investigation into the massive oil spill in Gulf of Mexico. US federal government is carefully observing the BP's report. The investigation was focused on two key areas. First is cementing at the wll head and the second one is the blowout preventer. BP told late Monday that it had not reached a final conclusion yet. But several control mechanisms should prevent the accident to happen again. A Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded April 20, killed 11 people and blew out an undersea well that spilled oil into the Gulf of Mexico. There was a serious threat that leaking oil would create an environmental disaster for four Gulf Coast sta! tes. BP was trying to find the best way how to trap the oil spilled in the ocean and prevent the environmental damgae. Unfortunately, none of the attempts to to control the scope have been successful yet. Bobby Jindal, Gov. of Louisiana, wants to protect the shate's shore with sand booms and he is not willing to wait for federal approval. Dead animals filled the shores and the oil has forced New Orleans to shut down the public beach. Chief executive of BP PLC, told that it was a complex accident caused by an unprecedented combination of failures. BP will now share the findings of its investigation with the U.S. Department of the Interior. The work is still not finished, there is a lot to do. For example, there is need to examine major pieces of equipment which are still on the seafloor.
