Giant Snakes Invading US by Claudia Sonea

Living life in the fast line determined people to focus more on making money and getting on a higher social level. The need to succeed requires sacrifices and frequently leads to the estrangement of people who prefer the company of a pet to that of another human being. Among the preferences regarding pets, dogs occupy the first position, while cats come right after them. In the past decade, the number of snake owners has increased considerably in US, should that be alarming? Apparently, even US authorities started to worry as the number of giant snake species is unexpectedly high. Some of them were freed by their owners who were not able ! to take care of them anymore as they grew too big, some of them were freed during the hurricanes’ attack, but more importantly is that the big snakes are a real threat to native species and ecosystems. Burmese pythons, northern and southern African pythons, boa constrictors and yellow anacondas are of high risk, while the reticulated python, Deschauensee's anaconda, green anaconda and Beni anaconda pose little danger on the other animals. Although the official reports say that the giant snakes are not endangering humans, but only animals, US residents should be more vigilant, because there is no certainty to what might happen, how the creatures could react. Due to the rapid breeding of the snakes, their abilities to adapt to climate change, to move on a wider area and to the expansion of their diet, US authorities have thought not only to stop their growth, but also to reduce the number, thus putting people’s safety above ! all. Another measure could be the banning of snakes on US terr! itory wh ich will not however forbid people from owning or selling them.
