Food stamps are helping...
by Barbora Misakova

Initial worries from replacement of dollar by Chinese Yuan are probably gone. Although money will be replaced, and probably quite quickly, they will be replaced fortunately by something else: by food stamps. As the crisis hit us quite intensely, it is not only customer who is looking for better options. Also big stores are trying to keep their customers as long as possible, especially the groceries. Big warehouse clubs known for king-size packages of various kinds of food are doing their best not to lose their customers and food stamps should help them with it. As there is about 36 million Americans on food stamps now it is more than clever from all warehouse clubs, superma! rkets and also mom-and-pop groceries to think on this option. Over the past two years the rolls of food-stamp recipients have grown by 10 million. Also the number of nationwide retailers accepting food stamps is higher: nearly 200,000 what represents 20-percent increase from 2005. Costco, the largest membership warehouse club chain in the world also started accepting food stamps, and even though it still keeps $50-a-year membership fee, new customers are coming anyway as it is still a good bargain. Although these food stamps cannot be accepted on all goods and the membership can be bought with them neither, it is still more than a good deal for both sides. That is also the reason why Costco wants to accept food stamps in about half its 407 stores in the U.S. by Thanksgiving. Food stamps are not only temporary alternative during the recession times, but they can help stores even after customers don’t need them anymore: you surely don’t want to lose your customers! even when the economy is picking up, do you?
