Spanish drawer full of pottery.
by Barbie Kunkelova
Human beings are such interesting creatures. Human's mind consists of millions of tiny drawers filled with bunches of complicated or simple ideas. Same with the Earth. Our Earth is made up of millions of tiny places that are stocked with history and also with new, shocking and motivating ideas. In order to see as many of these places as possible, humans keep looking and digging and uncovering in the most hidden areas. The most recent discovery was accomplished under seas - in Florida's Pensacola Bay, a place known for a huge hurricane storm which buried seven Spanish ships in the depths of this Bay in year 1559. One of the ships was found fifteen years ago. Since then, no diver had been successful. Until this year. What they found was a complete ship with lots of pottery pieces, everything still in a breathtakingly good shape. The bowls were still round and smooth, the wood pieces still rough and wrinkled and some angular. After few teenage divers had their turn under the water, they added also rat skeletons and seeds to the collection. With this discovery being so well-preserved, people came all the way down the Pensacola Bay to observe the "excavated" treasures. Good news for the public is that there were no leftovers from human bodies found, the inhabitants of the ship probably evacuated the board before the storm hit it (and did it). This is another step forwards for the archaeologists - with another fabulous secret of the Earth uncovered, congratulations!
