Water supply threatened in the U. S.
by Zuzana Moravcova

Human activity is responsible for yet the worst climate changes in U. S.Moreover, due to human influence, these changes are likely to accelerate. On Thursday, Science magazine published a study that predicts "a coming crisis in water supply for the western United States."The researchers of Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego, compare climate changes that would have happened with natural fluctuations over time, to climate changes caused by greenhouse gases and other emissions from vehicles, power plants and other sources. They found that human activities, such as driving, that release emissions including carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, are responsible for most of the changes in temperature, increasing mountain rain or still decreasing snow pack and river flow.Within two decades, the West is said to be faced with a water shortage to meet the seasonally changing river flow, and to have difficulties with transferring water from agriculture to urban use."The climate's changing in the West. We've known that. The question is why, and no one's really addressed that. The answer is it is us," said climate expert Tim P. Barnett, leader of the researchers. Cars, air conditioners or dishwashers might be very helpful for us consumers, but it has a destructive impact on the nature.
