Is it a curse?
by Barbora Misakova

I think a Buddhist wouldn't be very enthusiastic from my words, but I have to say that sometimes it looks like everything bad and tragic was happening to me and my relatives. These days has such a feeling probably every single person living in Macon County, Tennessee where last few weeks its inhabitants are just jogging on. After 14 people killed by twister another sad accident hit them. Reverend Michael Welch was after tragic effects of twister trying to help everyone in this district by setting up church as a crisis center dedicated to families. After this noble deed, on Thursday he and his family died when their van was struck by tractor-trailer. Sometimes people just think and ask themselves "where is the end of this?" and after this question usually other shocking and horrible thing happens. This Friday number of dead people killed by tornadoes increased on 59 and lot of people had to be hospitalized or became homeless. The same day the first funerals began. For someone could the view of colorful and aromatic bouquets full of sunflowers, red roses, pink carnations or lilies seem romantic, but as soon as you notice all those framed photographs of unknown people now lying in the coffins prepared for the eternal sleep, a big sadness and regret suddenly come. You don't have to know Jimmy and Dana Cherry who had been buried with their 11-year-old daughter Emmy, you don't have to know Bobby his wife Diane and daughter Gilda, but you will probably feel touched by these tragic deaths anyway. No one stays cold-hearted in this situation. President Bush arrived on Friday and flew over damaged area with state's senators of Tennessee and Arkansas and other three congressmen and declared that federal funds will be used for helping local government and individuals. People are helping each other too and they are doing it in the best way they can & saying prayers and kind words, helping with food and clothes. And even though they are doing their best, no one can turn back time to bring their beloved back to life.
