US Weather: a bit of everything!
by Barbora Misakova

It was just yesterday, what I wrote about cursed human race which more and more often has to face terrible ragging of nature. It is not only Indonesia, but also the rest of the world. This time it was United States. Chicago for instance, tried a bit of everything: strong winds, rain, tornadoes and even some snow. Strong wind howled across the Midwest and South on Tuesday. It snapped trees and power lines, ripped off roofs and delayed flights. On Wednesday the snow joined the wind and made little chaos in Dakota and Minnesota. According to National Weather Service there were as much as 8 inches of snow in North Dakota. Even though the wind had barometric pressure similar to ! a Category 3 hurricane, it has much less destructive power. As meteorologists said, the wind gusts were only as strong as a tropical storm. In spite of that, many people were injured across the USA. Two people were injured by torn section of roof in Racine County and Van Wert County, where the tornadoes whirled. In Lincoln County eleven people were injured and eight homes damaged, emergency management officials informed. Some other people were injured in Tennessee where also highway had to be closed because of crazy weather. In some areas (for instance in Indiana and Ohio) even more than one twister was reported. One of witnesses said: “It was just a regular workday and all of a sudden that noise just came and (co-workers) said ‘Run! Run! Run!’ You didn’t have time to think.” Except lot of damage and injuries, there were about 500 canceled flights and some others delays.

Interesting detail for the time of Kennedy's assassination
by Zivka Deleva

A new book has opened a new page in the United States of America’s history. We are talking about putting more light on that part of U.S history that still hurts a lot of Americans – the time of their favorite president at the time, John F. Kennedy’s assassination. A former Secret Service agent Gerald Blaine has published a book called “The Kennedy Detail” that came out just few days ago and he recalls of the time of the murder of Mr. Kennedy, but also unveils another very important detail as well. In the book he admits that he had nearly shot President Lyndon Johnson, just few hours after Kennedy’s death. Lyndon was the newly sworn-in pr! esident of the States. M.Blaine at that time has been guarding Lyndon’s home in Washington, in November, 23,1963. While hearing steps that approached him, Blaine thought that someone that shouldn’t be is in the house, but he was wrong. Without knowing who that is, Blaine has pointed out his submachine gun and it was, unfortunately, not too late for Lyndon, when Blaine has understood who that actually was. He admits in the book that he had long time later had problems with the thought that he might have killed the president. And the thing was that, the problem would have been a disastrous knowing the fact that United States’ nation “thanks” to him, could have left without two presidents in only 14 hours! I admit that would really be too much. It is for the first time in the political literature of the U.S that some security member of the Kennedy service at that time had written.

4 tornadoes touch down in Northern Arizona!
by Barbora Misakova

It is about month ago or so, what I saw a movie called “The Road”. This apocalyptic thriller tells the story of a man who travels with his son through the devastated, post-war land searching for civilization. And every time I hear about another torrential rains or storms, landslides, earthquakes or tornados, I have the scenes from this movie before my eyes. And I must tell you, they are not pleasant pictures. Residents of Arizona witnessed a rare swarm of tornados that shoved semis off highways and destroyed homes on Wednesday. While one tornado was rumbling through Bellemont around 5:30, another tornado struck minutes later east of the small town west of Flagst! aff. One of the witnesses, Breanna Hunt recalls this stormy night: “Running through the house, all the Kansas movies go through your head telling you: ‘Move to the basement.’ But we don’t have a basement.” But there were even more tornado warnings issued on Wednesday, exactly 22! As George Howard, National Weather Service meteorologist said, the radar showed many more twisters likely formed but not all of them were confirmed. Arizona typically has four tornadoes a year, but as meteorologists said, rarely it can sees twisters which come in clusters, just like on Wednesday. According to meteorologists, this kind of hammering is exceptional. “It is not uncommon this time of year to have one or two tornado reports or a warning, but this is quite an outbreak.” said Ken Waters from National Weather Service. This extreme weather came from a low-pressure system that has been parked over Central and Southern California.
