Veríte v osud? V minulosti som bola voči všetkému, čo sa týkalo istej „osudovosti“ skeptická, no dnes asi naozaj začínam v neho veriť. Veľa ľudí počas svojich životov trpelo, mnohí urobili až priveľké a neodpustiteľné chyby, ktoré sa niesli po zvyšok ich životov a títo ľudia ich brali ako kliatbu či nešťastie. No mali tieto veci naozaj negatívny vplyv na ich život? Čo ak tieto ich chyby mali len určiť lepší smer ich ďalších krokov? Vždy len rozmýšľame! nad vecami, ktoré by sa stali, keby sme niečo urobili či neurobili. Nech už sa stane čokoľvek, vždy ľutujeme, že sa niečo stalo alebo že sme niečo vykonali a nakoniec sme zasa len nespokojní. A možno aj preto niečo ako osud predsa len existuje a robí rozhodnutia za nás. Predstavte si, že by Ted Kennedy, ktorý bol za svojho života tak populárny a obľúbený nikdy nemal tú osudnú autonehodu, že by v aute nikdy nikto nezomrel a že by neušiel z miesta nešťastia. Čo by sa s ním stalo? Možno by jeho popularita, ako posledného Kennedyho, rástla priamo úmerne s jeho egoizmom a pýchou. Možno by sa napokon predsa len stal americkým prezidentom a možno by ho zabili rovnako ako jeho dvoch bratov. Bolo by to tak lepšie? Iste, toto sú len za vlasy pritiahnuté špekul&#! 225;cie, no jedna vec je istá, ak by „osud“ n! ezasiaho l a Ted Kennedy nezavinil smrť človeka, s najväčšou pravdepodobnosťou by sa tým prezidentom stal. A pýtam sa znova: ak by sa tak stalo, bol by takým dobrým prezidentom akým bol dobrým a obľúbeným senátorom? To sa teraz dá len ťažko povedať, no stojí to za polemiku. Nech už je to akokoľvek, skutočne začínam veriť, že aj zlé veci, ktoré sa nám dejú, môžu mať v konečnom dôsledku na náš život pozitívny vplyv a môžu z nás urobiť lepších a empatickejších ľudí. Presne takých, akým bol aj senátor Ted Kennedy.

Do you believe in faith or destiny? I was not sure about it in the past, but now I think I am really starting to believe in it. Lot of people had suffered and made lot of mistakes in their lives and they always took it negatively as some kind of curse or bad luck. But were really these things so bad? What if they were just leading their lives to the right direction? We are always thinking about the things which would follow if we did or didn’t do something. No matter what happens, we are always unsatisfied. And maybe that is the reason why something what we call destiny is making decisions instead of us. Imagine that so much beloved Ted Kennedy would never have that t! errible car accident, that no other passenger would be killed, that he wouldn’t run away from the place of accident. What would happen with him? Maybe his popularity as the last of Kennedys would be rising up directly proportional with his egoism and pride. Maybe he would become a president of the United States and maybe he would be killed as his two brothers. Would it be better? Of course, these are just speculations, but one thing is sure, if the Chappaquiddick incident wouldn’t happen he would became an American president. And now another question goes: when he became a president, would he be as good president as good senator he was? It is hard to say, even though it is worthy to polemize. Anyway, I really started to believe, that even bad things can shape us that can make us better and more empathetic, just as Sen. Ted Kennedy was.

Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy passed into eternity leaving behind a loving wife, two sons, a daughter and two stepchildren, and a grieving nation. The name Kennedy is an icon for America, their lifestyle, ambition, glamour fascinating an entire world. From the nine children of the prominent family, the one who brought home the glory and fame was John F. Kennedy, the 35th US President and the only president to have won a Pulitzer Prize. Nonetheless, his brothers were always behind him and together with the political ascension people’s interest for the family be! came more intense. It was hard for Edward M. Kennedy to rise up to the success of his elder brothers. Being the youngest he was always regarded as being weaker by the others, but his skilfulness in addressing to ordinary people on the street brought a record-setting victory margin to John’s 1958 Senate re-election campaign, while during the Democratic primary campaign helped to win the first contested primary of the season in Wisconsin. Moreover, at the Democratic National Convention in 1960 the unanimous vote from that state's delegates that put his John over the top came from Ted’s work in Wyoming. With one brother President and another US Attorney General, it was hard for Ted to run for the Massachusetts Senate seat, his rival using the family ties against him. He won that campaign and proved to be the strongest of the brothers by moving on after their assassination, taking care of their families and caring on the flag of idealism. ! Although, Edward Kennedy never succeeded in becomi! ng a pre sident, he definitely made a reputation as an extraordinary Senator whose legislative skills were reputed. He always maintained a close relationship with the residents of the White House, facilitating the collaboration between the Democrats and Republicans. The support he gave to Obama during the Presidential campaign was due to the commitment the latter’s to make universal health care a top priority of his administration. However, his premature death will not only postpone the health reform, but also endanger its success of being passed. Edward M. Kennedy did not have the ambition to be a President, but he had the oratorical gift of his brothers and the same love for his country. He earned his place in history and written his name into people's memory. May he rest in peace.

Posledný z bratov Kennedyovcov od nás odišiel. Posledných niekoľko týždňov (no nielen tých) sa pre rodinu Kennedyovcov nieslo v znamení veľkých strát. Presne 11. augusta zomrela Eunice Kennedy a v utorok ju v neskorých nočných hodinách nasledoval aj jej brat a brat Johna a Roberta Kennedyovcov, Edward. Mal 77 rokov. Pri dopravnej nehode, ktorá sa stala 18. júla 1969 a ktorú sám zavinil, zomrela jedna osoba. Miesto toho, aby okamžite zalarmoval políciu, z miesta nešťastia ušiel a telo mŕtvej spolujazdkyne sa našlo až na ďalší deň. Aj keď sa neskôr k činu priznal, táto čierna škvrna sa tiahla jeho životom až do konca. Keď jeho kandidatúra v roku 1980 skončila neúspešne, rozhodol sa, že všetku svoju silu a energiu investuje do svojej kariéry v Senáte. A bol to dobrý krok. The last of Kennedy brothers is gone. These last few weeks (but not only) were for Kennedy family under sign of loss. On August 11, Eunice Kennedy died; late Tuesday night John’s and Robert’s brother and also Eunice’s brother Ted Kennedy followed them as well. He was 77. Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy, as was his full name, was born in 1932 in Boston as the youngest child. He was attending Harvard College and later the University Of Virginia School Of Law. He got married with Virginia Joan Bennett and had three children with her. When his brother John Kennedy ran for President of the United States, Ted was helping him and managing his campaign. Sho! rtly after the murder of his brother John, he flew to Massachusetts in a private plane which crashed. Ted was lucky. He stayed alive, but he has suffered chronic back pain for the rest of his life. But the life prepared for him something worse just than physical pain. After few efforts to stand for president he realized, that fatal mistake he did on the night of July 18, 1969 will haunt him for the rest of his days and will never let him to become a president of the United States. When his presidential nomination in 1980 was lost, he devoted himself to his Senate career. And that was the right step. Many Senate Republicans consider him to be the most bipartisan and so the easiest Democrat to work with. People will remember him as one of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history, big liberalist and dealmaker. While Democrats lost his patriarch, Kennedy family lost “irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives.”

Et quoique sa réalisation ne soit! pas toujours parfaite, les Américains sont fiers de lui et il semble que bon nombre d'entre eux croient vraiment à lui. Et les preuves sont partout. L'une d'entre elles était Barack Obama et son élection présidentielle. La seconde est venu avec le nom "Sonia Sotomayor". Cette femme avec l'origine hispanique est devenue juge au premier Cour suprême hispanique national et la troisième femme dans l'histoire de la juridiction. Avec un grand appui du côté des démocrates elle représente un autre rêve américain accompli. Mais comme nous savons, rien n'est parfait, et il y avait quelques objections de personne d'autre que des républicains. Ils ont toujours des problèmes et des plaintes. Ils se sont débattus qu'elle pourrait apporter la polarisation personnelle et un ordre libéral à la cour. GOP considère les confirmation de Sotomayora d'être fausses car elle lui apportera des capric! es et des préjudices personnels à la magistrature. E! t quoiqu 'ils essayent de parvenir à la position des protecteurs de la loi et de la justice, je dois dire, ils ne sont que racistes ! Obama’s administration decided that the previously set aside funds for bailing out more banks will be used to trim the budget deficit for fiscal 2009 to $1.58 trillion. Polls have shown that the deficit is one of the top concerns of Americans who fear that it could lead to higher taxes and on the other hand the record deficit has made investors nervous and it threatens to thwart Obama’s ambitious agenda to service the healthcare, reform education and make the country less reliant on fossil fuels. According to the officials in the administration the drop in the projected deficit is due to the elimination of $250 billion that had been earmarked for further possible financial rescues. This step has been done after signs have shown that the financial markets are far more stable and consequently there will be no need for the U.S. Congress to bail out more banks. As President Barack Obama states the signs also show that the economy is returning to normal and that his $787 billion stimulus program is working, although any recovery has a long way to go. Officials state that the government’s budget office will announce next week that the deficit this fiscal year would total $1.58 trillion, about $262 billion lower than the deficit forecast in May. The improved deficit forecast may help Obama politically as he tries to overcome opposition from fiscally conservative Democrats and others opposed to the $1 trillion price tag for his healthcare overhaul. But on the other hand, a lower deficit will not encourage investors who are looking for evidence that the United States is controlling spending or generating higher revenues, and all of that due to a healthier economy.
